An outstanding alumnus of the tradition rich IHS baseball program is 2007 graduate, Tyler Strub. Playing in the rugged CIML Central conference, Tyler was phenomenal as the Indians ace pitcher in the summer of 2007. As recognized by the state’s coaches and media, Tyler was honored as a First Team All-State selection his senior year. In addition to his all-state accolade, Tyler was recognized as a first team all-district and all-conference pitcher. He was also chosen to play on the Iowa Coaches’ Association all-star baseball team and was honored as the Indianola Record Herald and Tribune Player of the Year. With the conclusion of Tyler’s high school career the Indians also qualified for the state baseball tournament, a feat that hadn’t been accomplished by an Indianola team in 40 years. Tyler still ranks high on the career strike-out list with over 200 as a varsity pitcher. Although Tyler earned his most prestigious honors on the diamond, he was also a key member of the football team during his junior and senior years. Tyler garnered academic all-conference honors in both sports as an Indian.
Tyler would like to recognize coaches Casey Aldridge, Eric Kluver, Josh Lullmann and Matt Young for their support and guidance while a student/athlete at Indianola High School.
Tyler’s parents are Doug and Renee Strub. He is a 2011 graduate of Iowa State University where he also played baseball for the university’s club team. Currently, Tyler and wife Tallis (Henry) live in Cedar Rapids where he works as a project manager for Ryan Companies.
