A 2010 graduate, Michael Chia earned 14 varsity letters while being a student athlete at Indianola High School. It was football where the most accolades came for Michael. Over his career he compiled 3,560 yards rushing and 46 touchdowns as a three year starter for Coach Kluver and the Indians. Michael was selected CIML First Team All Conference his junior and senior seasons and was recognized as the Record Herald Player of the Year both his junior and senior seasons. His senior season, Michael was named to the Des Moines Register Elite All-State Team and was later selected to play in the 2010 Shrine Bowl.
In addition to football, Michael was a 3 year letter winner in basketball and a 4 year letter winner in track, qualifying for the IHSAA State Meet and Drake Relays all four years. During the summer, Michael played baseball for the Indians where he earned 4 varsity letters. His junior and senior seasons Michael earned CIML First Team All Conference and All District recognition. Michael also was a starter for the baseball team that qualified for the state tournament during his freshman and senior seasons.
After graduating from IHS, Michael participated in football and baseball while attending Simpson College. He made an immediate impact on both programs, earning 8 varsity letters for the Storm. Michael is currently finishing up his education at Simpson . He would like to mention several coaches that helped him over the years at Indianola: Coach Casey Aldridge, Coach Mark Tucker, and Coach Eric Kluver.
