Matt Young was an outstanding two sport performer for Indianola High School. A football and wrestling star, Matt brought a small frame to the playing arenas but performed big time. In football, Matt was an outstanding receiver earning All-Conference honors as well as being selected to the 2nd Team All-State team. He was well known for precision routes and great hands as well as no fear while catching the football. Matt took that same kind of determination with him to the wrestling mat. As a junior, Matt placed 5th at the State Wrestling tournament and came back as a senior losing a close match in the finals to finish 2nd, but his efforts helped the Indians win their first ever State Team championship. He took his wrestling skills to Simpson College where he was a three-time Academic AllAmerican and a four time National qualifier. He also placed 3rd in the National meet earning All-American honors. Matt now teaches and coaches wrestling at North Cedar High School.
