A four year track letter winner, Lacey was a state qualifier in 2 different individual events and a member of 5 relays that made it to the podium during her career at Indianola High School. She placed 2nd in the State 400 meter dash with a time of 56.76 seconds, a current school record at IHS. As a freshman and her senior year she finished 3rd in the same event. Lacey was the anchor of 4×400 relay that finished 7th in 1996, 1st in 1997, and 1st in 1999 at the State Track meet. She was also the anchor of the State Championship sprint medley team her sophomore year and the same relay placed 2nd her senior season. Along with her success at the state level, Lacey was a 3-time CIML conference champion in three different events during her track career, winning the 200 meter dash as a freshman, the 400 meter dash as a sophomore, and the 800 meter run as a senior. And a member of four conference relay championship teams. Lacey was recognized by her teammates and coaches by being selected team MVP three years for the Indian track team. Besides being a tremendous track athlete, Lacey was also a member of the cross country team where she was a 3-time State Cross Country qualifier.
Lacey went on to continue her track career at the University of Iowa where injuries have plagued her college athletic career. She continues to attend the U of I and plans on graduating in 2005. She works for “Reach For Your Potential” a social service facility in Iowa City.
