Jay Sirianni was a 1994 graduate who excelled in two sports at Indianola. He was the quarterback of the football team and was voted 1st Team All-Conference his senior year. But baseball was where he was most blessed. He was a dominant pitcher from his sophomore season on. His talents earned him All-Conference and All-District honors for three years. He made the 2nd Team All-State selection his sophomore year and was an Elite 1st Team All State choice his senior season, playing in the Iowa All-Star game. Jay’s high school pitching stats were impressive. He had a combined record of 23 wins and 4 losses and was undefeated three of his four seasons. His senior year, he was 8-0 with a .56 ERA and averaged 12.4 strikeouts per 7 innings. Jay not only pitched well but was an excellent hitter with a .426 average with 6 home runs his senior season. He also had a career average of .371. Jay went on to college with his baseball talents and now pitches for the University of Nebraska where last year he led the team with wins and innings pitched. He has another year left and will graduate this spring.
