Cindy Wood graduated from Indianola in 1992 but she blazed a trail of honors before she left. She was a 12 time letter winner in four different sports. In basketball she was twice a 1st Team All-Conference selection and Elite Special Mention All-State, averaging 30 points per game and had a one game total of 45 points. Cindy was a long range shooter before the advent of the three-point line. Had she have been able to utilize the three point line, her stats would have been quite phenomenal. In softball, she was a four year starter as a catcher, earning AllConference and 2nd Team All-State honors. Cindy was also a conference champion in track in the softball throw. However, she wasn’t finished with her accomplishments after she graduated from Indianola. She took her talents to Simpson College where she was an AllAmerican in basketball, becoming the 2nd All-Time leading scorer in Simpson history. Cindy was an All-Conference catcher in 1984 and an All-Conference shortstop in 1986. She was also the most valuable player on her tennis team. Ms. Wood currently resides in Indianola and is an Activity Specialist at the State of Iowa Department of Corrections.
