5A No. 1 Indianola tops DM East in regional semifinal

Top-ranked Indianola soundly defeated Des Moines East 61-27 on Saturday night in a regional girls basketball semifinal.

Indianola (22-0 overall) has been ranked  No. 1 in Class 5A since the second week of the regular season.

Grace Berg led the Indians with a game-high of 20 points.

Tatiana Hodges-Johnson scored 10 points to lead East.

With the loss, East ended the season with an overall record of 10-12.

Indianola will face Sioux City East (8-15) in the regional finale on Tuesday night in Indianola. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
