indianola-3

The #5 Indianola football squad shut out Boone 41-0 Friday night in a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA, and with a little help from Bondurant-Farrar also secured a district championship. The Indians dominated from start to finish, holding the Toreadors to under 100 yards of total offense while obtaining nearly 400 themselves. A Bennett Brueck to Drew Kingery connection got the scoring started in the first, then the Indians expanded the lead with a 26-yard receiving touchdown by Carter Erickson, then Colton Gordon caught another 8-yard score, and Jaxon Morawski scored on a 13-yard rush to build a 27-0 halftime lead. Brueck connected with Erickson again in the third, and Kael Kolarik scored on a goal line rush to build the final advantage. Head coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA Sports the Indians did what they needed to do against a Boone defense that stacked the box.

“It was very obvious they wanted to come into this football game and say they stopped Indianola’s run game and if they beat us in the passing game so be it. So it was difficult running the football tonight. As much as you want to be balanced, you have to be able to take what the opponents are giving you and I thought our coaching staff did a great job with that.”

Erickson had seven receptions for 117 yards and two scores. The Indians improve to 8-1 and will have a top-seed and a home game in the playoffs next Friday.
