Elite Team
The Des Moines Register Sports Awards’ Elite team is our all-class All-Iowa team.
Anna Hostetler
Junior | Mid-Prairie (Wellman)
Hostetler dominated 2A competition all season. She won every one of her races, including the 2A title meet with the top time across all classes (17:57.7). Hostetler finished as the top-ranked girls runner in 2A, a place she held for much of the year.
Marie Hostetler
Freshman | Mid-Prairie (Wellman)
Had it not been for her older sister, the younger Hostetler would have likely secured the 2A title. The Mid-Prairie freshman finished second in every meet this season, capped off by a 18:15.3 performance in the state meet.
Jessica McKee
Junior | Johnston
McKee finished second in the Class 4A girls’ state cross country meet in a time of 18:10. The junior was the top-ranked 4A runner entering the postseason and helped Johnston to a record-shattering first-place finish with 26 points at state.
Bailey Nock
Junior | Iowa City West
Nock won the Class 4A girls’ state cross country meet in a time of 18:06.9. The junior was the No. 7-ranked 4A runner entering the postseason. She used a late-race burst to push past Jessica McKee.
Karley Larson
Junior | Underwood
Finished third at the Class 2A state girls’ cross country meet in 18:25.2. The junior led Underwood to a 13th place finish at the state meet and turned in the fifth-fastest time of any girl runner in any class at the state meet.
