The Indianola boys basketball team starts their season Monday evening, where the girls squad looks to build a winning streak after taking down Urbandale last week as they host the Comets of North Polk. The Indians girls are ranked #2 in class 4A to begin the season, and looked the part after taking down the J-Hawks in blowout fashion despite shooting just 29.5% from the field. The Indians boys are buoyed by returning talent and transfers in to the program, and head coach Jeff Ebling tells KNIA Sports the Indians will be playing an entertaining brand of basketball.

“Any five guys that we have on the floor they are going to play extremely hard. We’re going to get after the ball, dive for loose balls, be as physical as we can on the offensive and defensive glass, and we have to move the basketball. We want to play a little up tempo, and we want to get out and push that basketball up the floor. We are still working on shot selection and how we are going to run if we don’t get a good break, and it’s going to be fun for the fans to watch.”

The games can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA and the Indianola Activities YouTube stream, with pregame coverage beginning at 6pm, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15. Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson have the call.
