The #7 in class 4A Indianola girls basketball squad dominated #4 Grinnell at home Tuesday night winning 64-36, while the boys put up 88 points on their way to a 30-point victory as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Indians girls only allowed four Grinnell points in the first quarter as they clamped down defensively scoring 11 points themselves, then continued their defensive mastery to earn a 28-13 halftime advantage. With Grinnell continuing to stick around in the early third quarter, the Indians brought the hammer down making five three-point buckets and building a unassailable 26-point advantage going into the fourth. Senior guard Mara Bishop said this team knows it will have to be strong on the defensive end to accomplish their goals.

Lauren Blake led all scorers with 20, while Emily Naughton had 13 and Gillian Smith had 10 off the bench.

The Indians boys had seven players score in the first quarter en route to their blowout win, leading 28-18 at the end of the first, then outscoring the Tigers 16-7 in the second quarter to take a 19-point advantage into the break. After dropping another 20-point quarter in the third, the Indians emptied the bench in the fourth to get the conference win. The Indians had 11 players score, with 29 points coming off the bench, and Drew Kingery led all scorers with 22.
